We are not emergency help
If you are in danger right now, or thinking about hurting yourself or someone else, contact local emergency services or a crisis line. We cannot watch a queue through the night. We will not be there in ten minutes.
We are not licensed anything
Not doctors, not lawyers, not therapists, not financial advisers. If your problem needs one of those people, the honest answer may be to go and find one — and we will say that, without dressing it up as our own wisdom.
We might say no
Rarely, we will come back with: we can't help, we don't know, or this is outside what a careful stranger should touch. That is not a rejection of you. It is us keeping the promise not to invent competence.
We might be slow, or closed
There are only so many problems a small desk can hold at once. When we are full, the front of the site says so. Cases already here still get the time they were promised.
